A graduate of Cours Florent, Gilles Lellouche began his career in film as a director of short films (2 minutes 36 de bonheur (1996), Pourkoi… passkeu (2001), the latter being part of the Zéro un programme produced by Luc Besson). He then went on to develop several music videos.

He made his debut as an actor with a few small roles, notably in the comedy Mes amis (1999), Michel Hazanavicius’ first feature film. Guillaume Canet launched it by giving it a second role in his first feature film as a director, Mon idole (2002). They continue to respond in Yann Samuell’s comedy Jeux d’enfants (2003) and then in Narco (2004). Lellouche co-directed this comedy with Tristan Aurouet and entrusted the lead role to Canet.
